Re: July 10th Daily Discussion
The Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday renounced their rights to guard Shaun Livingston, Dan Dickau, Boniface N'Dong, Smush Parker and James Singleton.
The five players no longer count toward the Clippers’ salary cap. After renouncing a player, a team can re-sign him but must have room under the salary cap or ink the player to the minimum salary exception. Livingston's devastating knee injury leaves his NBA future in doubt, while the other four are iffy for making an NBA roster this season, as well.
nooooooooooooooo not smush

INTERVIEW WITH JERMAINE O'NEAL
M.U.:How do you describe Ron Artest?
JERMAINE O'NEAL.: He’s a great father. He’s a very different guy, personally. He is one of the hardest workers I have ever seen in my life. Sometimes he doesn’t stay focused all the time. A great personality. Sometime he just phases out. He’s a very shy guy. I cannot understand why he does things because he doesn’t really like the attention. When you are talking to him, he doesn’t look right at you. He looks away. He is very shy. It’s just unexplainable how he ends up in some of the situations he gets involved in.
WHAT!?!?!?!?!?

Re: July 10th Daily Discussion
M.U.: Ron Artest considered himself a rap artist. Why do so many NBA guys want to be rap artists?
JERMAINE O'NEAL.: I don’t have the slightest idea. Basketball takes up so much of your time, mentally and physically. If you are an artist, that’s your life. If you play ball, you don’t have enough time or focus to make that a career. The only guy who has done well is Shaq. Everybody else is just a wannabe rapper.
T-HUD, C-WEBB, MAMBY, DESMOND MASON ?

8. Ben Gordon, Bulls: Of all the players who turned down lucrative contract extensions last summer, Gordon made the most mind-boggling decision. He turned down a five-year, $50 million deal that seemed above market value on a down season.
For him to recoup that money this summer seems almost impossible. And now that the Bulls have added Larry Hughes to the mix, it's no longer clear where Gordon fits into the picture.
There isn't a huge market for undersized 2-guards who have streaky jump shots. Gordon most likely will be the top restricted free agent not to have his offer matched, but he'll struggle to get a huge offer from anyone. Gordon may be better off taking the Bulls' one-year tender offer.

4. Kwame Brown: The former No. 1 pick has run out of excuses. Yes, he's huge, athletic and only 25 years old. But after seven years in the league, he's yet to prove that he's anything more than a backup. Someone will pay him something, but no one expects much.

Elton Brand is officially a tool
Did anyone else see that interview with him slobbing on that snake of an agent he has?
With him not even giving any kind of explination for his bolting?
Hey Elton i got a news flash for you:
Gilbert just got MORE money than you with a more busted wheel WITHOUT the "help" of an agent.
These guys need to wake up.

Celtics holding line on Posey?
With more names coming off the list of available free agents, it would seem the Celtics may have to dig a little deeper to retain James Posey. But as of early last night, there was still nothing imminent on that front. Posey's representative, Mark Bartelstein, said he hoped to have something done within 48 hours. But when asked if that was with the Celts or another team, he replied, "I honestly don't know." The Celtics would still love to have Posey, and according to league sources they are willing to spend the full mid-level exception, announced Tuesday as $5.585 million. But, despite talk elsewhere that they were ready to do the fourth year, the C's still appear to be trying to hold the line on that.
